Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month - “Moving Towards Change: A Virtual Celebration"Wednesday, March 17, 2021
March is National Developmental Disability Awareness Month. The purpose of National Developmental Disability Awareness Month is to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life and to bring awareness to the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live.
The Iowa DD Council and University of Iowa Center for Disabilities and Development hosted a virtual event: “Moving Towards Change: A Virtual Celebration” via Zoom on March 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. CST. We were joined by the Community Living Ambassadors for an interactive discussion on their lives, successes and personal journeys in transitioning into community living as individuals with disabilities.
