Take Action! Healthcare Bills Prepared for VoteThursday, July 20, 2017
The Senate’s “Better Care Reconciliation Act” (BCRA) and a new bill, the "Obama Repeal Reconciliation Act" (ORRA), are being prepared for a vote next week. It is unclear which bill the Senate will move on at this point, but it is likely that there will be a vote on a “motion to proceed” to a vote on one of the bills sometime next week — probably Tuesday or Wednesday. Both bills increase health care premiums, eliminate protections for pre-existing conditions and the requirement for essential health benefits and make cuts to Medicaid. Both bills are harmful to people with disabilities for these and many other reasons.
If this is important to you and your family, call Senators Grassley and Ernst and tell them to vote no on the motion to proceed. Senators Grassley and Earnst can be reached at 202-224-3121. TELL SENATORS GRASSLEY & ERNST:
- Who you are and where you live.
- You are a person with a disability, a family member of someone with a disability, a friend, or an advocate.
- Take time to think about how Medicaid or the ACA has helped you.
- Explain which services you use, and what would happen if you lost them.
